Do you know how to maximize your practice by over-booking it?

  • Visualize. Simple (and obvious) as it may sound, first envision just what that fully-booked successful future looks like. How do you spend each day? What would you like to be doing?   • Prioritize. What are the highest-value activities that you perform/enjoy most? List them—and be selfish. If your entire day or week were spent doing only these activities, you would be living the exact same lifestyle as the world’s most successful solopreneurs. 
  • Delegate. This is the part that those successful leading independent consultants won’t tell you about. But the fact is that there are numerous activities that you currently perform today that could be done faster, cheaper, and better by others. How much time do you spend transforming meeting notes into presentations? Doing research? Interviewing subject-matter experts? Polishing proposals? Developing reports and presentations? 
  • Grow your brand. Certainly you could write a book. But there are other ways to spread your thought leadership across the world. Consider, for example, developing e-learning content based upon your proprietary IP, and hosting it or licensing it for your clients, depending upon their size and need. This is a good way to maximize your presence across in-person, computer, and mobile devices, and also generate a new source of revenue.
  • Become Elvis. The argument goes like this: When Elvis was starting out, he toted his own instruments and equipment to every gig. When he became a superstar, he was booked solid—and you know for a fact that he wasn’t exactly plugging in amplifiers.
